The Journey

35 Years Across Four Continents

From London's audit rooms to the ICC boardroom in Dubai, from Harare's cricket grounds to Lahore's national stadiums — a career built at the intersection of finance, governance, and sport.

1988–1997

Chartered Accountant & Banking

Ernst & Young · Chase Manhattan · Citigroup · Samba Bank

Qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London, then moved through global banking — from Chase Manhattan in Karachi to Citigroup in Bahrain and Samba Bank in Pakistan.

2002–2007

Chief Financial Officer

International Cricket Council

First tenure as ICC CFO — managing a financial portfolio approaching $3 billion, overseeing the 2003 and 2007 Cricket World Cup finances, and participating in transformative commercial rights negotiations.

2008–2010

Chief Executive Officer

Dubai Golf

Led one of Dubai's premier sports and leisure brands — managing championship courses including the Emirates Golf Club, home of the DP World Tour's Dubai Desert Classic.

2010–2017

Chief Financial Officer (Second Tenure)

International Cricket Council

Returned to the ICC for a second tenure — navigating the 2014 governance reforms, overseeing cricket's most lucrative commercial cycle, and helping shape the game's modern financial architecture.

2017–2018

Managing Director

Zimbabwe Cricket

Appointed during a period of acute financial and institutional crisis — stabilised operations, protected ICC membership status, and delivered the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018.

2021–2023

Chief Executive Officer

Pakistan Cricket Board

Brought three decades of global experience back to Pakistan — hosting Australia after 24 years, England after 17 years, and creating the Pakistan Junior League.

Where Finance Meets Passion

"Success in sports administration requires a unique blend of operational and financial discipline and a deep understanding and empathy of what makes sports meaningful to fans worldwide."

Above all, the administrators must understand that their primary stakeholders are the fans and the players. I qualified as a UK Chartered Accountant in 1985.

My journey — from the audit rooms of London to the ICC boardroom in Dubai, from rebuilding Zimbabwe Cricket in Harare to leading the Pakistan Cricket Board in Lahore, and now serving in advisory and tribunal roles from Massachusetts — has taught me that numbers tell only part of the story.

Behind every budget line is a player's dream, behind every commercial deal is the opportunity to grow the game we love. From negotiating billion-dollar rights deals at the ICC to ensuring grassroots cricket survives in challenging economies like Zimbabwe, the work has always been about people first.
